Finland secured its fifth IIHF World Championship title early Monday after Konsta Helenius scored the decisive sudden-death goal in a 2–1 victory over Canada, Sveriges Television (SVT) reports.
Helenius, who plays for Swedish Hockey League club Skellefteå AIK, called the winning moment “an incredible feeling” in post-match comments carried by SVT. The gold marks Finland’s first world title since 2022 and extends its record as the tournament’s most successful nation in the 21st century.
Stockholm public transport operator SL warned of further major disruptions on the metro system Monday morning, following days of technical failures and delays. Commuters were advised to expect significant service interruptions during the peak travel period.
In western Sweden, police in Kungälv confirmed two people—a man and a woman—were injured in a violent assault at a residence outside the town late Sunday. A suspect has been detained on two counts of attempted murder in connection with the attack.
