A Norwegian national has been formally charged in connection with the 2018 disappearance of Anne-Elisabeth Hagen from her home in Lørenskog, public broadcaster NRK reported Saturday.

The charge follows a seizure of property linked to the investigation, which under Norwegian criminal procedure law automatically grants the suspect formal status once notified, prosecutor Guro Holm Hansen told NRK. Hansen added that no further legal measures beyond the seizure are currently planned.

Hagen, then 68, vanished from her residence on 31 October 2018. Police publicly confirmed the case months later, treating it as a suspected homicide. The disappearance drew widespread media attention and public interest.

Her husband, Tom Hagen, was previously charged in the case but the charges were dropped in 2021 after prosecutors concluded there was insufficient evidence. Several other individuals have also been charged and later cleared over the years as the investigation continued.

The case has been conducted under strict secrecy, with defence lawyers confirming to news agency NTB that the probe has spanned multiple years.
