A major fire in a residential apartment block in Lørenskog has spread to multiple units, forcing the evacuation of over 50 people, Dagbladet reports.
Emergency services responded to the blaze at 05:14 local time, with Øst Police District confirming the fire had breached containment efforts. “The goal was to prevent it from spreading beyond the initial apartment—we failed,” operations leader Håkon Hatlen told the paper. “Our focus now is extinguishing what’s still burning, but it’s not under control yet.”
By 08:29, authorities stated the fire remained active but the risk of further spread had diminished, ruling out additional evacuations. Two individuals received medical attention for minor issues, though no serious injuries were reported.
Police urged nearby residents to keep windows closed and disable ventilation systems “as long as smoke persists.” The cause of the fire remains unconfirmed.
