No Faroese nationals in the Strait of Hormuz have sought help from Danish consular services, the Faroese foreign minister confirmed Wednesday.

Bárður á Steig Nielsen, the Faroese minister for foreign affairs, stated that no requests for consular assistance from Faroese citizens in the region had been recorded. His remarks came in response to a parliamentary question from Bjarni Kárason Petersen regarding the status of Faroese nationals in the Persian Gulf.

The Faroese foreign service collaborates with Denmark’s ministry of foreign affairs on consular matters affecting Faroese citizens abroad. As standard procedure, individuals requiring assistance are directed to contact either the Faroese foreign service or the Danish ministry directly.

The Faroese Maritime Authority has also confirmed that no vessels registered in the Faroe Islands are currently operating in or near the Strait of Hormuz. Authorities added that they do not track which ships employ Faroese seafarers or the whereabouts of vessels crewed by Faroese nationals.
