The Faroese Finance Committee has approved an additional 2.5 million krona to cover waiting pay for parliament members after the 2026 budget allocated only 700,000 krona—assuming elections would be held in late summer, reports Faroese broadcaster KVF.

Parliamentary elections were instead held in March, triggering the payment of waiting allowances that would otherwise have been deferred until next year. The oversight emerged when the 2026 budget was drafted, with the original allocation proving insufficient after the early vote.
