Fewer passengers through Faroe Islands airport in April

Passenger numbers at the Faroe Islands airport fell by 11.2 percent in April compared to the same month last year, according to figures reported by Kringvarp Føroya. A total of 37,087 travellers passed through the airport during the month.

Despite the drop in passenger numbers, the total number of departures and arrivals was 4.8 percent higher in April this year than in April last year.

When measured up to 1 May, overall passenger figures are up 4.5 percent compared to the same period last year.

Cargo volumes also declined in April. A total of 527 tonnes of freight was handled, representing an 18 percent decrease compared to April last year. However, cumulative cargo figures up to 1 May are 16.9 percent higher than the corresponding period in the previous year.
