Finnish Interior Minister Mari Rantanen has confirmed that schools and workplaces in Helsinki may operate as usual, following a security alert earlier today, Yle reports.

In a post on X, Rantanen stated that it is safe to attend school and work. Liisa Kivelä, Helsinki’s director of communications, also confirmed that all city services are functioning normally.

“The situation has returned to normal because the danger has passed,” Kivelä said.

Had the authorities’ advisory to stay indoors continued, Kivelä noted that schools would not have opened. Critical services would have been assessed separately based on official guidance if the situation had persisted.

The city continues to closely monitor instructions from the Interior Ministry and other authorities.
