Nearly 8% of all registered vehicles in the Faroe Islands are now electric, according to the latest figures from the Faroese Road Directorate (Akstovuni) reported by public broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya.

As of 1 May, the islands had 3,285 electric vehicles, up from 3,167 at the start of the year. The total includes 3,052 passenger cars, 133 vans, 94 light trucks, four buses, one hearse, and one motorcycle. With 42,983 vehicles registered nationwide, electric models now account for 7.6% of the total—far below Denmark’s 20% adoption rate.

The data reflects steady growth in electric vehicle uptake, though the Faroe Islands still lag behind some Nordic neighbours in electrification.
