Foreign tourist dies after falling into river at Stuðlagil

A foreign tourist in his 30s died after falling into the Jökla river at Stuðlagil on Monday, mbl.is reports. He was found dead in the river shortly before 9 p.m. that evening.

About 100 rescue workers took part in the search, according to a statement from the police chief in East Iceland.

The man’s relatives have been informed. Authorities said no further information would be released for the time being.
