The Faroese Healthcare Workers’ Union and the Municipal Employers’ Association (KAF) have failed to reach an agreement in wage negotiations and will now bring the dispute before the national Conciliation Board, Kringvarp Føroya reports.

Talks between the two parties have stalled, prompting today’s meeting with the board, which will review their positions. A decision from the Conciliation Board is expected in the coming days after examining the case.

Mary Antonsdóttir, chair of the Healthcare Workers’ Union, and Súni Selfoss, chair of the Civil Service Union (Starvsfelagið), which is in separate negotiations with the Finance Ministry, both confirmed the breakdown in discussions. Selfoss stated he does not expect a prolonged delay in resolving the dispute.

The existing collective agreements for both the Healthcare Workers’ Union and the Civil Service Union expired on 1 October. Today’s session at the Conciliation Board, scheduled for 13:00, will allow both sides to present their arguments.

The board will assess the submissions before potentially issuing a formal mediation proposal.
