Finland grants record number of citizenships in 2023

Finland granted citizenship to a record number of foreign nationals last year, according to new figures released by Statistics Finland.

The agency reported that over 14,000 foreign residents received Finnish citizenship in 2023, surpassing the previous record set in 2022.

Iraqi citizens accounted for the largest share, making up 14 percent of all new Finnish citizens.
