Young man apprehended after serious collision in Keminmaa

A young man drove while intoxicated in Keminmaa during the night between Thursday and Friday, according to the Lapland police. The driver collided with a woman who was on the road. Police reported that the woman sustained serious injuries and required immediate hospital care. The man had been driving under the influence with two friends in the car. He had taken the vehicle without permission.

After driving a short distance, the young man and his passengers exited the car. One of the friends went back to the scene to see what had happened and called emergency services. The driver and another young person left the scene, according to the Lapland police’s statement.

About an hour after the incident, the young driver called emergency services to report what had happened. Police subsequently apprehended the young man. The injured woman was transported to a hospital in Oulu for treatment.
