A 22-ton-lift crane nicknamed “Bæstet” (The Beast) has been imported from the Netherlands to repair storm damage at Hanstholm Port’s Østmolen breakwater, reports Danish broadcaster DR.

The unusually large excavator is capable of lifting stones weighing up to 22 tonnes with its outstretched arm. The machine will be used to restore the breakwater, which suffered significant damage during recent storms.

Repairs to the nearly new structure are expected to cost 156 million Danish kroner (approx. 21 million euros).
