Attendo acquires A-klinikka addiction treatment provider

Finnish health and social care group Attendo has agreed to purchase A-klinikka Oy, a specialist in substance abuse and addiction treatment, the company announced on Wednesday.

A-klinikka provides addiction services to Finland’s wellbeing services counties and the City of Helsinki, employing 300 social and healthcare professionals. Its facilities deliver approximately 70,000 treatment days annually.

Attendo CEO Virpi Holmqvist stated in a release that the acquisition reflects the company’s focus on addressing unmet needs in addiction care. “We see growing demand in this area, and too many people are still left without help,” she said.

The deal remains subject to regulatory approvals, which are expected to be finalised by summer. A-klinikkasäätiö, the non-profit foundation currently owning A-klinikka, will retain its role as a public expert in addiction issues.
