Finnish foreign policy institute clarifies internship application process after controversy
The Finnish Institute of International Affairs (UPI) has revised its internship application guidelines following criticism over a high-profile case last year, reports Finnish news agency STT.
The changes come after the institute received a formal reprimand from the Parliamentary Ombudsman. The case involved Oliver Stubb, son of President Alexander Stubb, who was granted an internship despite being in the early stages of his studies and lacking the required scholarship or funding that other applicants needed.
UPI has now clarified its criteria regarding applicants’ academic progress and says it has improved the overall selection process for interns.
