Emergency services have lost control of a large fire in a three-storey building in central Stjørdal, prompting evacuations of nearby properties, Dagbladet reports.

Open flames were seen erupting from a rooftop terrace on Thursday afternoon, with thick smoke visible from a distance. Operations manager Einar Røstum of the police confirmed to the paper that the building was “fully ablaze” and that firefighters were working to contain the spread.

As of 16:30 local time, authorities stated there was no immediate risk of the fire spreading further, though control had not yet been regained. Nearby buildings were being cleared as a precaution.

No injuries have been reported.
