Man found dead after training hike in Sandnes
A 46-year-old man from Sandnes has been found dead after a search operation in the Lutsifjellet/Steinsfjellet/Dybingen area, local police confirmed on Friday.
Ovar Aarsland was reported missing during a training hike on Thursday evening, prompting a search involving police and emergency services. His name was released with the consent of his next of kin, according to a police statement.
A rescue helicopter located Aarsland’s body in the terrain at 00:23 on Friday. Police officers arrived shortly afterward and confirmed his death. Authorities have ruled out foul play.
“There is no suspicion of criminal activity,” said police officer Maryam Dahmani Bokdasji of the Sør-Vest police district.
