E-bike battery fire in Oulu apartment sends two children and one adult to hospital
A fire caused by an electric bicycle battery broke out late Monday evening in an apartment building in Oulu’s Heinäpää district, Finnish public broadcaster Yle reports. The blaze started on the fifth floor of a six-storey residential building.
Six people—two adults and four children—evacuated the burning apartment. Emergency services examined all six for smoke inhalation and transported two children and one adult to hospital for further treatment, according to the North Ostrobothnia Rescue Department.
Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire. The cause has been confirmed as a lithium-ion battery from an e-bike.
