Plans for 40 summer cottages rejected to protect West Jutland farmland
Plans to build 40 summer cottages on sandy farmland near the West Jutland village of Nymindegab have been rejected by Danish authorities, who ruled the area has special landscape value and must be preserved, reports DR.
The proposed development, located two kilometres from the coast, was blocked despite local arguments that the project would revitalise the community. Residents have questioned the decision, noting that the number of summer cottages in Denmark has barely increased despite record-high demand.
The rejection comes after the national government proposed measures in 2024 to facilitate the construction of 25,000 new summer homes.
