Farmer criticises political parties ahead of Faroese election
A Faroese farmer has sharply criticised political parties ahead of the Faroe Islands’ parliamentary election, saying voters face a choice between “two evils,” national broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya reports.
Jóhan Dávur Joensen, a farmer in Gásadalur, cast his vote on Thursday but expressed deep dissatisfaction with the political system. “You can only choose the lesser evil because everything is equally hopeless,” he told the broadcaster.
Joensen, who said he rarely has free time due to farm work, considered voting for local candidates but ultimately decided their influence would be too limited. “They talk such nonsense when they campaign,” he said. “They ramble about housing—kicking out tourists to build hotels. That solves nothing.”
He added that farmers have no real representation in politics, calling the system ineffective for rural communities.
