Trade union issues strike warning to Tampere University of Applied Sciences
The Trade Union of Education in Finland (OAJ) has issued a strike warning to Tampere University of Applied Sciences, with a potential 24-hour walkout set to begin on 9 April unless a resolution is reached, Yle reports.
The union announced the warning on Wednesday, targeting both the national conciliator and Sivista, the employers’ association for the education sector. OAJ cited multiple proposed cuts to employment terms by the employer side as the reason for the action.
Negotiations over the collective agreement for universities of applied sciences between OAJ and Sivista broke down on Monday, 23 March, after failing to yield results. A similar strike warning was issued on Tuesday for Metropolia University of Applied Sciences, where a potential walkout would occur a day earlier, on 8 April.
The national conciliator has called both parties to discuss the sector’s negotiation situation on 27 March.
Tampere University of Applied Sciences enrolls approximately 12,000 degree students.
