Early voter turnout in the Faroe Islands’ parliamentary election is significantly higher than in the previous election, according to figures reported by public broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya.

By 3 p.m. local time, 937 voters had cast ballots in Klaksvík, representing 24.5 percent of eligible voters—up from 792 (20.8 percent) at the same time in the 2022 election. In Runavík, 679 people had voted (30.8 percent), compared to 470 (21.5 percent) four years ago.

In the capital, Tórshavn, where polling stations now include Hoyvík, 28.6 percent of eligible voters had participated by 3 p.m., an increase from 26.2 percent in the last election.

Early indicators suggest overall turnout for Tuesday’s election will be strong.
