Swedish police have launched an investigation into a suspected arson attack at a mosque in Malmö, according to local media reports.

The fire broke out early on Tuesday morning at the Islamic Center mosque on Jörgen Kocksgatan. Emergency services were alerted at around 4:30 AM and quickly brought the blaze under control. No injuries were reported.

Police confirmed they are treating the incident as a suspected arson. “We have initiated a preliminary investigation into arson and violation of a place of worship,” a police spokesperson told Sydsvenskan. Authorities have not yet identified any suspects or motives.

The mosque has been the target of previous incidents, including vandalism and threats. In 2014, a firebomb was thrown at the building, causing minor damage. Police have increased patrols in the area as a precaution.

Local Muslim community leaders condemned the attack, calling for unity against hate crimes. “This is an attack not just on a mosque, but on our entire community,” said a representative from the Islamic Center.
