Faroese election poll shows Social Democrats and Union Party maintaining leads

A new opinion poll suggests the Social Democratic Party (Javnaðarflokkurin) and the Union Party (Sambandsflokkurin) will retain their seats in the Faroese parliament, with 38% and 28% of voter support respectively ahead of the 24 March election.

The survey, conducted by *spurt.fo* for Faroese national broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya and news site Portalin, indicates a shift in support among smaller parties. The Republican Party (Tjóðveldi) and People’s Party (Fólkaflokkurin) each lost one seat compared to the last election, polling at 14% and 15% respectively. The Centre Party (Miðflokkurin) registered 2% support.

Support for Javnaðarflokkurin has grown by 9.5 percentage points since the previous election, while Sambandsflokkurin saw a slight decline of 2 points. Incumbent MPs Anna Falkenberg and Sjúrður Skaale are running for re-election, while the Progress Party (Framsókn) will not field candidates.
