Activity at the Reykjanes Peninsula volcano has remained steady overnight, mirroring patterns observed in recent days. The current eruption remains characterized by stable lava flow emanating from its most active crater, with the flow progressing slowly toward the southeast. Some gas emissions near the eruption sites are expected.

Winds are forecasted to come from the south or vary today, leading to potential gas pollution primarily around the eruption area and Reykjanes Peninsula. By the afternoon, winds are anticipated to shift to the northeast, which could push gas emissions toward the southwest. Generally, air quality across the Reykjanes Peninsula and the capital remains good.

Residents and visitors are advised to monitor gas pollution levels, which are available through Iceland’s Meteorological Office website.
