Freezing night gives way to mixed weather across Finland
After temperatures fell below freezing across much of Finland overnight, rain, snow and sunshine will take turns during the day, Yle reports. The best conditions for outdoor activities are expected in Lapland and the south.
Precipitation will move across northern Finland and areas near the eastern border. Snow will arrive first, followed quickly by rain, so little is expected to settle. By the afternoon, the precipitation will be concentrated mostly along the eastern border.
Lapland will be sunny, with some sunshine also in the west. The coldest daytime temperatures are expected where the sun does not break through, in the east and northern Lapland.
Wind is expected to limit the return of freezing temperatures on Thursday night, with temperatures falling below zero only in parts of Lapland. There may be light showers in central Finland and a small chance of sleet in the east. The south is forecast to have a clear night, followed by widespread sunshine on Thursday.
