Climate Action Network issues dishonorable mention to Finland at Bakun climate conference

The Climate Action Network (CAN), an international coalition of climate organizations, has issued a “dishonorable mention” to Finland during the Bakun climate conference, according to Fingo, the umbrella organization for Finnish NGOs.

The rationale for this designation highlights that environmental and human rights groups have taken legal action against Finland for breaches of its climate laws. It adds that Finland’s carbon sinks have sharply declined, undermining the benefits of the country’s emission reductions. The collapse of these carbon sinks also casts doubt on the EU’s ability to meet its emission reduction targets.

In Finland, members of CAN include notable organizations such as WWF Finland and the Finnish Association for Nature Conservation.
