At the end of 2023, a significant renovation project will commence in Helsinki’s Kruununhaka district, targeting the facilities of the State Council. This initial phase, announced by Senate Properties, will focus on several key buildings within the state council block, including those at Kirkkokatu 12 and 14, Pihapaviljonki, Snellmaninkatu 7, and Hallituskatu 3.

This area holds considerable architectural value, featuring structures from various historical periods, with the oldest dating back to the 1840s and the most recent built in the 1980s. The first phase of the renovation will cover approximately 15,000 square meters, with an estimated cost of 71 million euros. Preliminary work on the site will begin later this year, with actual construction set to kick off in early 2025. The entire project is expected to be completed by the end of 2026, with YIT as the main contractor.

The upcoming renovations will involve a comprehensive modernization of the buildings’ technical systems. Enhancements will focus on improving safety, energy efficiency, and accessibility. Additionally, the workspaces will be revamped to align with the needs of the State Council, incorporating a modern, flexible working environment based on their operational requirements.
