The recent lottery scandal involving the Social Democratic Party has gained significant attention this autumn, leading to a suspension of lottery sales while investigations by consumer and gaming authorities are underway. Party official Mikael Damberg expressed notable frustration among party members following the revelations from the fall, emphasizing the importance of preventing similar incidents in the future.

Damberg acknowledged that the companies contracted by the party have repeatedly employed questionable methods in their lottery sales practices. Previously, the party committed to avoiding telemarketing firms, but Damberg has now indicated that the party might completely cease any telephone sales strategy. He stated, “If we cannot manage this properly, we should refrain from that type of selling altogether.”

The newly established board for the party’s lottery enterprise, Kombispel, has been tasked with overhauling the sales processes to ensure transparency and accountability, with Damberg assuring that all necessary measures will be taken to avert a recurrence of such scandals. He expressed uncertainty about resuming any form of telephone selling, even internally, as it has been perceived negatively by the public.

In the wake of these challenges, the Social Democratic Party is set on restoring trust and confidence in its operations by addressing the issues with clarity and commitment.
