Three political parties form coalition in Tórshavn, Faroe Islands

In a press release announced after midnight, three political parties—Tjóðveldi, Javnaðarflokkurin, and Borgaralistin—have confirmed their agreement to form a coalition within the municipal council of Tórshavn.

Tjóðveldi will take the mayoral position, while Javnaðarflokkurin will assume the deputy mayor role.

The coalition partners have also agreed to prioritize key areas such as housing, daycare services, elder care, and environmental issues.

The next step involves convening an extraordinary council meeting to establish the new local government, after which discussions will commence to draft a coalition agreement among the parties.
