Fire at Nationaltheatret station disrupts train services in Oslo
The situation is developing, with extensive damage reported on various cables and systems at the Nationaltheatret station in Oslo, following a fire discovered by a security guard early Sunday morning. Bane Nor press officer Harry Korslund indicated that repairs could take a significant amount of time, potentially impacting train services in the region.
Korslund remarked, “This could take many hours. We must be prepared for that.” He expressed hope that they could begin repairs as soon as possible, but he refrained from speculating on the implications for train traffic as operations return to normal. A comprehensive assessment of the damage is required before Bane Nor can estimate how long repairs will take.
As a result of the incident, Nationaltheatret station is completely closed, leading to substantial disruptions for travelers in the Oslo area. While there are alternative transportation options like buses, trams, and the metro for local travelers, those relying on train services will face limitations.
Bane Nor advises passengers to contact the train companies for updated information regarding train departures. The Flytoget service has arranged buses between Drammen and Oslo S, and Go-Ahead also has bus services operating between Oslo and Kristiansand. Similarly, Vy has reported bus service replacements or cancellations on their routes, with specific details available on their website.
