Today marks a day of remembrance as we honor those who have lost their lives at sea.

In the past year, the maritime industry claimed two lives when the trawler Kambur sank approximately 17 nautical miles southeast of Akraberg on February 6. The victims were:

– Bjarni Bisp, aged 57, originally from Argir and residing in Hoyvík.
– Heine Thorsteinsson, aged 47, originally from Vágur and living in Vágur.

This information was reported by folkakirkjan.fo.

The Maritime Accident Investigation Commission continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the sinking of the Kambur.

Memorial services are being held across the country in their honor.

A public memorial service to remember Faroese who have died at sea will take place at the Business School in Tórshavn this afternoon at 2 PM, organized by the Seamen’s Mission. Aksel V. Johannesen, the Prime Minister, will deliver a speech, and Bergur D. Joensen, a priest, will lead the service.

This evening, a church service will be held at the Cathedral, following the public memorial. The service will be broadcast on the radio.
