A pair of unknown individuals have reportedly stolen one of Nyborg’s famous cats, Røde Allan or Miti, both of which have gained significant social media followings, with Røde Allan boasting 6,300 Facebook followers. The incident occurred at approximately 1:30 AM on Tuesday morning. Surveillance footage from Nyborg Station’s hallway appears to show a woman lifting a red cat out of the station while a man removes the cat’s basket, which was secured to a bench with zip ties. Witnesses reported that the duo arrived from the parking lot and exited the same way.
The owner of Røde Allan, local council member Martin Stenmann, expressed concern over the theft, questioning the motives behind it and the well-being of the cat. He urged the public to report any sightings of Røde Allan or Miti, hoping to ensure both cats are safe.
DSB confirmed that the surveillance footage has been handed over to the police, but authorities stated they are not formally investigating the incident, as no official report has been filed. Communication officer Mads Boel noted that discussions with the owner led to the conclusion that it was not yet a police matter.
Røde Allan began visiting Nyborg Station regularly in 2021, quickly becoming beloved by locals and commuters alike. The attention from local media and the public led DSB to provide a proper basket for the feline celebrity. The phenomenon expanded when Miti, a cat resembling Røde Allan, appeared, turning the station into a home for two well-loved cats. In the heart of Nyborg, Stenmann remains hopeful that Røde Allan will soon return to his familiar basket.
