Socialist Party finalizes election lists for 2024 parliamentary elections in Iceland

The Socialist Party in Iceland has finalized its election lists for the upcoming parliamentary elections set for 2024. The deadline for submitting candidate lists concluded at noon today, with the party releasing its complete list late last night.

In the South constituency, the list is led by Unnur Rán Reynisdóttir, a hairstylist and teacher, followed by Hallfríður Þórarinsdóttir, an executive, and Arnar Páll Gunnlaugsson, a mechanic. This list marks the first complete list published by the Socialist Party, although top candidates for other constituencies had previously been announced.

Sanna Magdalena Mörtudóttir, a city council representative, is leading the ticket for the South Reykjavík constituency. Her list includes Sólveig Anna Jónsdóttir, the chair of the Efling union, in third place. In North Reykjavík, Gunnar Smári Egilsson, editor of Samstöðin, is the party’s lead candidate. In the Southwest constituency, the list is headed by Pastor Davíð Þór Jónsson. In the Northwest constituency, the party is represented by Guðmundur Hrafn Arngrímsson, chair of the Tenants’ Association. Lastly, in the Northeast constituency, the list is led by author and former sheep farmer Þorsteinn Bergsson.
