Socialist Party finalizes candidate lists for 2024 parliamentary elections in Iceland

The Socialist Party’s candidate lists for the upcoming 2024 parliamentary elections are quickly taking shape. The deadline for submitting these lists is tomorrow at noon. So far, the party has released a complete list only for the Southern constituency.
Leading the Southern list is Unnur Rán Reynisdóttir, a hairstylist and teacher. She is followed by Hallfríður Þórarinsdóttir, an executive director, in second place, and Arnar Páll Gunnlaugsson, a mechanic, in third.
In the Reykjavik South constituency, the party’s list is headed by Sanna Magdalena Mörtudóttir, a city council member, with Solveig Anna Jónsdóttir, the chairperson of Efling, holding the third position. Gunnar Smári Egilsson, editor of Samstöðin, leads the Socialist candidates in Reykjavik North. In the Southwest constituency, the list is led by Pastor Davíð Þór Jónsson, while Guðmundur Hrafn Arngrímsson, chair of the Tenants’ Association, leads in the Northwest constituency. Finally, the Northeast constituency is headed by writer, translator, and former sheep farmer Þorsteinn Bergsson.
