Komerofood files for bankruptcy in Kuopio, Finland
The Finnish ready-meal manufacturer Komerofood from Kuopio has filed for bankruptcy, marking the end of its operations based in Kelloniemi. The company employed ten individuals.
According to CEO Pekka Nuutinen, the primary reason for the bankruptcy was the inability to make the business profitable. He stated, “When it is not sustainable, external financing is required. Understandably, the threshold was reached, and now was a good time to stop.”
The bankruptcy application reveals that the company is insolvent, with debts amounting to 1.1 million euros. Its largest creditors include Säästöpankki Optia, Finnvera, the pension insurance company Elo, and the Tax Administration.
Last year, Komerofood reported a revenue of nearly 1.7 million euros, but recorded an operating loss of over 400,000 euros. The company specialized in meal packages that included ingredients and instructions for preparing meals. It gained popularity through the television program “Suomalainen menestysresepti,” which helped its meal bowls achieve widespread distribution in stores. The meal bowl became the company’s main product, with plans to introduce additional offerings to the market.
Savon Sanomat was the first to report on the company’s bankruptcy filing.
