Residents of Mývatnssveit met with representatives from Rarik and Landsnet to discuss recent power outages that caused significant damage to electrical appliances in the area. At the beginning of October, outages in the distribution network led to extensive damage, prompting many locals to replace household appliances, incurring costs that could reach millions. Participants expressed satisfaction with the explanations regarding the causes of the outages but voiced concerns about the lack of clarity on responsibility for compensation.

Ragnheiður Jóna Ingimarsdóttir, the mayor of Þingeyjarsveit, acknowledged the productive nature of the discussions but noted that further meetings with decision-makers are planned to address compensation details, leaving her unable to provide a definitive timeline for resolution.
