Páll Steingrímsson has lodged a complaint with the state prosecutor regarding the decision of the Northern West Iceland police to discontinue an investigation into alleged drugging, data copying from his phone, and the distribution of sexual content.

Eva Hauksdóttir, Páll’s attorney, confirmed this development, stating that the complaint primarily concerns their dissatisfaction with the police’s legal justification for closing the case. The police cited a potential violation of Article 217 of the law, which Eva contends pertains to minor assaults. She argues that it is inappropriate to classify the investigation of drugging, which has had serious health implications, under this specific legal provision.

Additionally, Eva believes there was a lack of clarity regarding the accusations against the journalists involved and emphasizes the need to investigate whether they engaged in actions beyond merely receiving evidence. She criticized the overall handling of the investigation, noting that statements had not been obtained from all witnesses.

Eva submitted the complaint to the state prosecutor yesterday, who has three months to respond.
