Oulu has put a Russian drone shot down in Ukraine on public display, Yle reports. The drone was transported by trailer to Rotuaari in the city centre on Friday around noon.

The Geran drone will remain on display on Kirkkokatu until the end of August. Geran drones, based on Shahed aircraft, are manufactured in Iran.

The exhibition is organised by the City of Oulu together with the Embassy of Ukraine.

The drone has a wingspan of about 2.5 metres and is 3.5 metres long. It weighs approximately 200 kilograms, while its warhead weighs between 50 and 90 kilograms.

The City of Oulu said the exhibition aims to show the effects of Russia’s war of aggression on Ukraine and provide a tangible illustration of the weapons systems used in attacks against the country.

“A concrete encounter helps people understand the consequences of war in a way that news images cannot always achieve,” Oulu Mayor Ari Alatossava said in a city statement.
