Mustakallio seeks Green League nomination for mayor of Tampere
Jaakko Mustakallio, the Vice Chair of the Tampere City Council and a member of the Green League, is seeking his party’s nomination for mayor. The Green candidate for mayor will be chosen through a member vote in November.
“I want to be the mayor because Tampere is the city of my heart. My long journey in politics and working life has provided many ideas for developing the city. I would pursue these with determination and diligence in the upcoming council term,” Mustakallio stated in a press release.
Mustakallio has served as a city councilor in Tampere since 2013 and has been a member of the city board since 2015. Last year, he was appointed as the Deputy CEO of Finland’s Local Trains.
In addition to Mustakallio, Perttu Jussila, the chair of the Green regional council group, is also aiming for the party’s mayoral nomination. Furthermore, Ilmari Nurminen, a member of parliament from the Social Democratic Party, has announced his intention to run for the position of mayor of Tampere.
