This week, Finland will begin adjusting speed limits on highways and main roads to align with winter and darker conditions. According to the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency, the primary day for changing speed limits is Friday, but signs may start to be replaced as early as today if conditions necessitate it. The winter and night-time limits are set to be implemented by next Tuesday.
On main roads, speed limits will generally be reduced to 80 kilometers per hour, while on highways, the limit will be adjusted to 100 kilometers per hour. However, there may be exceptions to these rules if road safety remains high or if traffic volumes are low.
