Vipers Kristiansand, the prominent handball club, is facing a financial crisis, needing an estimated 3 million Norwegian krone (NOK) to ensure its operations continue at least until summer next year. The club is currently in talks with local investors to secure the necessary funds, although Chairman Peter Gitmark is keeping the investors’ identities confidential. He confirms they are capable of delivering the required amount, which is in addition to the funds currently being negotiated.

If the fundraising efforts fail, the team’s next match against Buducnost in the Champions League could very well be their last. Vipers is also considering selling naming rights to their home arena, Aquarama, as a potential revenue source. Gitmark hopes that this could generate between 1 million and 1.5 million NOK, which would greatly assist the club’s financial situation.

Despite the dire circumstances, Gitmark remains optimistic about the club’s prospects and has urged potential supporters among the audience at Saturday’s match to contribute. Vipers players have not received their salaries for the month, which adds to the urgency of the situation. A board meeting on Sunday will determine the future direction of the club, with hopes for a positive resolution in securing the needed funds to continue operations.
