Driver charged for reckless speeding in Hraunbær as police assist with tire change

On October 16, 2024, police officers activated the blue lights on their vehicle to assist a driver changing a tire on a busy street in Hraunbær. This measure was taken to alert other motorists due to the rapid and heavy traffic conditions exacerbated by poor visibility.

The police reported receiving notifications regarding reckless driving in the same neighborhood. The driver in question was charged and temporarily lost their license after being caught driving at 140 kilometers per hour in an area where the speed limit is 60 kilometers per hour. The individual now faces a fine related to this offense.

No injuries occurred in the incident within district 105; however, two vehicles were rendered undrivable as a result. As of now, the police have not provided additional information concerning a burglary reported in the Laugarás neighborhood.
