More than a year has passed since the devastating attack on Israel, where Hamas killed around 1,200 people and took 250 Israelis hostage.

As is well known, Israel responded decisively, and since then, the conflict has escalated and spread to several countries in the Middle East.

At least 3,000 Israelis have died, including 1,200 civilians and approximately 800 soldiers. Additionally, 115 individuals remain unaccounted for after being taken as hostages and transported to Gaza on October 7 of last year.

On the other side, reports indicate that the death toll has exceeded 40,000, with two-thirds being women and children.

Is it possible to halt the ongoing conflict, which appears to be expanding and intensifying? What are the long-term consequences of a war that has persisted for a year? What are the prospects for resolving the complex knot of issues in the Middle East and achieving a lasting solution?

These are significant questions that are challenging to answer. Today in the debate section, historical researcher Hans Andrias Sølvará and author Hanus Kamban will discuss these topics and more.
