On October 14, the Dutch government presented a recommendation to parliament outlining plans to acquire new defense systems as part of the Citadel program, a comprehensive integrated air and missile defense initiative. According to Kongsberg Gruppen’s press release, the Netherlands’ plans to procure the NOMADS and new NASAMS systems will significantly enhance the country’s operational capabilities.

Eirik Lie, CEO of Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace, emphasized that this acquisition underscores NASAMS’ position as the leading medium-range air defense system worldwide, as well as the importance of NOMADS as an effective supplement. NOMADS offers a mobile and integrated air defense solution tailored for NATO allies.

Kongsberg intends to collaborate with the Dutch industry, with the delivery of the weapon systems expected to commence in 2028. The company has opted not to provide further comments until the contract is officially signed, which is anticipated to be finalized later this year.
