The Finnish Defense Forces will host their national Independence Day parade this year in Lappeenranta. The event will feature troops and equipment from all branches of the military as well as the National Defence University. In addition to the armed forces, units from the Border Guard, civil defense organizations, and various authorities will participate.
The parade reception will begin at 1:15 PM near the Lappeenranta passenger harbor, with approximately 1,200 personnel and around 40 vehicles expected to take part. Key highlights of the day’s program will include a ceremonial inspection of the parade in Kimpinen Field, located near the city center, and a march along Ainonkatu, which runs alongside the shores of Lake Saimaa. A display of military equipment will be held at the harbor square.
The Finnish Army is responsible for organizing the parade, with planning and execution led by the Army Academy. A detailed schedule for the event will be published by the Defense Forces later. Each year, the Independence Day parade takes place in a different city; in 2023, the event was held in Oulu.
