Surfers Alfred Dixen and Marinus Tambo embark on journey around Denmark by sea

Strong winds, waves, and two young men racing at speeds of up to 55 kilometers per hour characterize the current adventure of surfers Alfred Dixen and Marinus Tambo, both in their early twenties and among the top surfers in the Nordic region.

About a week ago, they set off from Esbjerg and have since navigated around Jutland, down the Swedish west coast, and through the Øresund strait, reaching Allinge on Bornholm, marking the halfway point of their journey around Denmark by sea. “We want to embark on an adventure together and test our limits,” Marinus Tambo explained. “We’re seeking that adrenaline rush, and we thought it would be fun to be the first to surf around Denmark,” said Alfred Dixen.

On Sunday morning, they will continue their journey towards Ystad in Sweden, facing headwinds that will slow their progress. “We’re zig-zagging and sailing upwind at speeds of 25-30 kilometers per hour,” Alfred noted.

In the coming days, the two adventurers plan to sail south of Lolland and through the Great Belt on their way to their final destination in Aarhus, where they expect to arrive in about a week. They are sailing on the Olympic windsurfing class IQ Foil, which they regularly train on at the Aarhus International Sailing Center.

In their daily lives, they spend nearly every day on the water in the Aarhus bay and also engage in strength training, totaling around 30 hours a week. “We also need to make money and work on the side, so there’s plenty to keep us busy,” Alfred added.
