Suspect faces serious forgery and fraud charges in complex Finnish estate case involving Kirsti Paakkanen’s will
The Western Uusimaa Police Department in Finland has completed a preliminary investigation into a criminal case involving the will of Kirsti Paakkanen. One individual is suspected of two counts of serious forgery and one count of serious fraud, all of which allegedly occurred between 2015 and 2020.
The police have been investigating this complex case for over a year, and have also requested handwriting analysis from the Central Criminal Police’s forensic laboratory. The goal of this analysis is to determine whether both original copies of the will, signed in 2015, were indeed signed by Kirsti Paakkanen.
The outcome of witness interrogations and other preliminary investigations resulted in the charges being changed to two counts of serious forgery and one count of serious fraud.
The head investigator, Crime Commissioner Jyrki Kallio, stated that this investigation has been exceptional, describing it as a complex and wide-ranging criminal case involving serious offenses. Furthermore, the case has gained significant public attention due to the valuable estate at its center.
The case is now moving to the Southern Finland Prosecutor’s Office for consideration of prosecution.
