Finland braces for strong winds and heavy rainfall, warns meteorological institute
Finland is set to experience strong winds and heavy rainfall over the next couple of days, according to warnings from the Finnish Meteorological Institute and weather service company Foreca. Rain is expected to begin this morning on the southwest coast and will move toward Lapland by Thursday night.
In most areas of the country, the precipitation will fall as rain; however, Lapland and the northeastern region may also see sleet and snow. The daytime temperatures are projected to range from 8-9 degrees Celsius in the southwest to around freezing in Northern Lapland.
Along with the low-pressure system, gusty winds will reach Finland, potentially causing localized damage.
