A shooting incident that occurred in mid-September at a restaurant-pizzeria in Vantaa’s Pähkinärintee neighborhood is now being investigated as attempted murder. The charge was previously categorized as attempted manslaughter. According to Chief Investigator Rauno Jämsä, evidence of premeditation has emerged, prompting the change in the classification of the crime.

Reports indicate that the victim was a former owner of the restaurant-pizzeria, although Jämsä does not confirm this information. Both the suspect and the victim were involved in the restaurant business, as Jämsä noted that the victim was on duty at the time of the shooting incident.

The incident occurred when there was one other staff member present, who did not sustain any injuries, and no customers were in the establishment. The injured party is a 50-year-old man of foreign background. The suspect, also of foreign descent and approximately thirty years old, is currently in custody. It has been disclosed that the two men were previously acquainted and that a dispute may have played a role in the incident.

During questioning and the custody hearing, the suspect admitted to firing at the victim multiple times. Police previously stated that the victim’s survival from the situation was nothing short of miraculous.
